Frequently Asked Questions
What is ASCII art?
ASCII art represents images using text characters. Darker areas of the image are mapped to denser characters (like @ and #) while lighter areas use sparse characters (like . and space). The result is a text representation of your image.
What is the difference between Simple and Detailed character sets?
The Simple set uses 10 characters for a clean, high-contrast look. The Detailed set uses 70 characters for much finer tonal gradation, producing more detailed but busier output. Try both to see which works better for your image.
How does the width setting work?
Width controls how many characters per line in the output. More characters means more detail but requires a wider display. The height is automatically calculated to maintain the image's aspect ratio, accounting for character proportions.
