Frequently asked questions
What are Amazon's main image requirements?
Amazon's main product image must have a pure white background (RGB 255,255,255), show the product filling at least 85% of the frame, contain no added text, graphics, watermarks, props or hands, and measure at least 1000 pixels on the longest side — 1600 px or more so zoom works. Non-compliant main images get suppressed from search.
How does the checker measure a white background?
It samples the outer 2% of pixels around the edge of the image and counts how many are pure white (each channel ≥250). Marketplaces judge whiteness the same way — by the border, not the product. Anything under about 98% usually means an off-white or gradient backdrop that Amazon's automated scan can flag.
How is the 85% product fill measured?
On a flat backdrop, the checker finds the bounding box of every pixel that differs from the background colour and compares its longest dimension to the frame. If your photo has a busy background (a table, a room), coverage can't be measured reliably, so the tool tells you to generate a clean-background version first.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded and analysed on a canvas inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and the file is discarded when you leave the page.
My image fails the size check — what do I do?
Use the free AI upscaler on this site: 2× takes a 1024 px image to 2048 px, which clears Amazon's 1000 px minimum and Shopify's 2048 recommendation; 3× reaches Etsy's 2700 px width. Upscale after generating or editing, as the last step before upload.
